The Crumbfort Studies

2 Corinthians 1:3-4

the founding verse:

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.

introduction

In these verses we begin to uncover the Nature of God. Finding His identity as a “God of all comfort,” and “Father of mercies.” Let us dive further into what else we can discover about His nature:

Parental Figure

Concerned with bolstering the well-being of His children, as well as their confidence to help others.

Teacher

Concerned with conveying the personal responsibility His “pupil” has to share the compassion learned from Him.

God

Tasked with the creation of the very composition/nature of “comfort;” defining what that means through His character.

Judge

Providing parameters for when you can receive comfort: “in all our tribulation,” “in any trouble.” He is a judge offering a pardon, mercy.

King

“Who comforts us,” meaning those under His jurisdiction (believers) are able to receive this gift.

Friend

In line with the paternal figure, providing personalized support to us, showing us how to show up for others, how to be a friend.

Boss

Providing identity and description of the work to be done, and by whom: Humans helping humans, just as the “Boss” demonstrated in training.

Historian

Feeling this mission is important enough to write down and remember.

Healer

With the ability to soothe and rehabilitate us, providing relief from pain. A provider of hope.

summary

Comfort others, the way God comforts us.
